Pup-Friendly Favorites of the Crystal Coast for Fido’s Dream Vacation

Bringing your dog on vacation with you to the Crystal Coast but want to be sure he won’t be left home alone all day? Not to worry; there are plenty of dog-friendly activities to enjoy here. Here are a few pooch-preferred things to do on the Crystal Coast.

Dog-Friendly Beaches of the Crystal Coast

dog at the beachGood news for dogs; most of the Crystal Coast’s public beaches are dog-friendly! Most do have leash laws, but they’re pretty relaxed, and if you bring your dog during off-peak hours (early morning, evening), you might be able to get away with letting Fido roam free. If you do, you may want to keep a long leash attached so you can quickly grab him if needed.

Remember, always bring extra water and plenty of shade for your dog. Check riptides, if your pooch is a swimmer, and don’t let him wade out too far!

Bring Your Furry Friend to Dinner

In nearby Emerald Isle, the Village Market gourmet sandwich shop invites pets to enjoy lunch on their outside deck. Also in Emerald Isle, the charming K9s and Coffee offers pet supplies and treats in addition to gourmet coffees, smoothies, and desserts.

Outdoor Attractions & Recreation That Welcome Dogs

Emerald Isle Woods Park Trail: This 1.7 mile path on the North Carolina Birding Trail offers beautiful Bogue Sound views and is a great place to walk or bike with your dog.

Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area: Explore maritime forests, marshes, and plenty of wild flora and fauna with your furry friend at the beautiful nature preserve, located adjacent to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Fort Macon State Park: This charming historic Civil War landmark and fort is surrounding on three sides by water, making it a perfect locale for outdoor adventuring through sand dunes, tide pools, and scenic waterfront hiking trails.

Cape Lookout National Seashore: Accessible only by ferry (or private boat, for adventure-loving pooches), this icon of the North Carolina coast offers 50 miles of undeveloped beach perfect for roaming or swimming, as well as the icon Cape Lookout Lighthouse.

PAWS Bark Park: Located in the heart of Morehead City, PAWS Bark Park is the ideal place to let your dog off-leash to make friends and play with other Crystal Coast residents and vacationers. Separate large and small dog areas ensure a safe environment for your best friend.
